The Night

Mr Darcy had one of those nights last night. (Sleep. Who needs sleep? No one who's anyone sleeps anymore.)

Around 6 a.m., after several hours, with Mr Darcy happily peering at us with his bright little eyes in the darkness and making many strange noises and much flailing, I finally gave up and got up with him.

Half an hour later, he was asleep again, first on my shoulder, then in my arms. I didn't dare go back to bed in case he woke up.

In some ways Mr Darcy is a bit like a little dog. He can sleep for a few hours, but then he wants some stimulation before he's willing to sleep again. Maya used to be like that, but now that she's more grown up, she just sighs and stays in her bed.

Last night I ended up with a bit under 4 hours sleep. Which is fine on the occasional basis, and luckily I slept okay the night before.

Poor Steph, though, doesn't get much more than that every night, with Mr Darcy's need to feed so often. For some reason, he's got into a routine of feeding mostly at night.

Anyway, it's hard to get cross with him. When I look at him sleeping in my arms, it's just the most wonderful sight and more than makes up for the slightly fuzzy head I have most the time now.

I tried to take a picture of him with photobooth, but it didn't turn out so well. I'm posting it after the fold anyway.
