Well, here we are, over in America again, this time in Michigan, visiting Steph's family. And I've been lied to. Again. Seriously. Every time we come over the US in the winter, Steph tells me it's going to be cold, deep in snow, etc., etc. Yet today it's warmer here than it was over in the UK, and it was pretty warm over there. It's almost too hot. I now no longer believe in the idea that Michigan has freezing cold winters, and I refuse to pack big coats next time.

The flight over here was surprisingly okay. We changed flights in Amsterdam, this time, rather than flying to somewhere like Chicago or Philadelphia and changing there, and it worked way better this way, even if it meant flying in the wrong direction first. It's so much easier to make a change when you've only travelled for a couple of hours, it's a reasonable time of day, and you don't have to go through customs and immigration while you're trying to get to the next plane.

So, these are the movies I watched on the plane:

3:10 to Yuma - been wanting to watch this for a while now, and it was pretty good. Not awesome, but definitely worth watching. Sadly, it suffered from plane-sound, where you get mainly bass and sound effects and can't always hear the dialogue. Good though.

Rush Hour 3 - okay, I knew this was going to be bad. I quite like Jackie Chan, and the first Rush Hour was fun. But this was more than bad. It was offensively bad. Any other place or time, I would have given up long before the end. Avoid it.

Balls of Fury - I really liked this one. Yeah, some bits of it were dumb, and it was a bit silly, but it was funnier than I'd been expecting, and quirkier too. I was happily surprised by it. Lots of good touches. I would watch it again.

I also started reading David Gemmell's Troy, Lord of the Silver Bow, which Steph bought me for Christmas. I'm a big fan of Gemmell's work, but I'd never got around to this series. Now that I have, I'm loving it. It's got everything Gemmell's best novels have, but with an extra richness of a well-researched and well-imagined historical era. It's up there with his best.

That's it. Jet lag hasn't overwhelmed me yet, despite waking up too early and too often last night, but my brain isn't fully functional yet.
